CAT Exam 2019: Registration, Pattern, Trends, Eligibility

CAT (Common Admission Test) Exam 2019 date is yet to be announced. (Most likely it is expected to be held on Nov 24, 2019). It is the mandatory entrance exam for admission to top Business schools like (20 IIMs, MDI, FMS, DMS IIT and others in India. As per sources, this year CAT shall be conducted by IIT Kozhikode. Last year it was conducted by IIM Calcutta.

The Computer Based Test (CBT) CAT 2019 exam will be held at more than 350 centres across India and abroad, in 2 shifts in a single day. More than 2 Lac candidates appear in CAT exam every year. Last year 2.41 Lacs candidates had registered and applied for CAT while 2.09 Lac sat in exam.

CAT 2019 Eligibility: If you have completed Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks or completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA), or are in the final year of Bachelor’s degree you can appear in CAT exam. There is no Age bar to apply and appear for CAT exam.

CAT 2019 Notification: The CAT Notification 2019 is expected to be published on July 27th followed by which, the registration should be open. Expected date being Aug 8th 2019.

CAT 2019 Exam Pattern: 180 Minutes duration CAT exam will be a computer delivered test will have 100 questions divided in 3 sections of VARC, DILR and Quantitative Ability. 25% No Penalty Questions: Out of 100 questions in CAT 2019, more than 25 questions will not have negative marking. CAT 2019 is divided into MCQ and Non-MCQ type of questions will not carry negative marking. In case any non-MCQ has negative marking, a few MCQs may be changed to no negative marking questions.

Respective B Schools will have respective CUT-OFFs as per the pool of applications or as per their standards. Some may have sectional cut-offs too.

CAT 2019 Exam Syllabus: Experts have analyzed and provided a tentative CAT 2019 syllabus based on the past CAT trends. While there could be additions of new topics or removal of the old, CAT syllabus is expected to remain same for the year 2019.
