University of Kerala was established on 1st November 1937 by a proclamation of the Maharaja of Travancore Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma. It was the 16th University to be established in India and the first in the State of Kerala.The University at its very inception adopted as its motto “Karmani Vyajyate Prajna” a verse from the ancient Sanskrit work Panchathanthra.
The Institute of Management in Kerala was established under the tutelage of the University of Kerala in the year 1991. The Institute is located near the international business hub of Kerala, the techno park, along the national highway-47, amidst the lush green Karyavattom University Campus. The institute is part of the newly formed School of Business Management and Legal studies, University of Kerala.
BA (General) Programme (Full time)
The MBA(general) course curriculum is designed to give students an extensive understanding of the nuances of various management disciplines. Spread over 2 years (4 semesters), the programme specifically aims at imparting the students the state of-the-art knowledge of the concepts and techniques of management, developing the ability to comprehend the environment and acquire analytical decision-making and fostering a novel approach to work.
The MBA( Tourism) course is designed to give students an in-depth understanding into various aspects of Travel and Living business .The course giving maximum impetus to hands on training which in the process creates high quality hospitality managers. Spread into 4 semesters, the course educate students about the required management theories, legal and environmental frameworks, and sciences of comfort.
MBA (Evening Programme)
The institute offers an MBA Evening programme having duration of six semesters. The course is tailor- made for working professionals who would like to add an MBA to their qualification. Classes are scheduled between 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm on all working days. Eminent academicians and professionals from the industry are involved in the pedagogy.
