The average stipend of the top 10% and the top 25% was Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 4.36 lakh for two months respectively, while the top 50% of the batch received an average stipend of Rs 3.98 lakh for two months. About TISS: The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 by Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956. In 1954, TISS moved to a permanent campus at Deonar, Mumbai (now known as the Main Campus), from the earlier campuses at Nagpada and then Andheri.
