JAM 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has officially launched the website for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026 at official website. As per the schedule, the JAM 
2026 exam will be conducted on February 15, 2026. The online application process will begin on September 5, 2025.

The exam is a gateway for admission into various postgraduate science programs including MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, and other PG science degrees offered by premier Indian institutes. IIT Bombay has also released the tentative schedule, paper-wise session timings, and examination city zones.
Eligibility :
- Candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree or currently studying in the final year of undergraduate programme are eligible to apply for JAM 2024 examination.
- Foreign Nationals with Indian degrees are eligible to apply, subject to the policy of the Admitting Institute.
- Candidates who qualify in JAM 2024 will be eligible to apply for admission to the Academic programmes of the Admitting Institutes subject to satisfying the Eligibility Requirements (ERs) and Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs).
The institute has also released a tentative schedule, session-wise paper timings, and exam city zones on the official website. The details are accessible through the “Important Dates” section on the JAM 2026 portal.

What is JAM: The Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) is a national-level entrance exam conducted annually for students aspiring to pursue advanced education – postgraduate courses, including MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD dual degree, and other PG science degrees at top Indian institutes in science and technology at IITs and other top institutes.

A total of 89 PG programmes will be offered across 22 IITs for the academic year 2026–27, covering more than 3,000 seats. Candidates who qualify JAM 2026 will be eligible for admission to participating institutes, subject to meeting the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and Eligibility Requirements (ERs) defined by each institute.
Candidates who qualify in JAM 2026 will be eligible for consideration across participating institutes. However, admission is subject to the specific eligibility criteria (MEQ) of the admitting institute.

Steps to Apply JAM 2026.

- Register with required personal and academic details
- Log in with the credentials generated
- Fill out the application form carefully
- Choose preferred paper(s) and exam city
- Upload necessary documents
- Pay the registration fee online
- Forenoon : Chemistry , Geology , Mathematics
- Afternoon : Bio-Technology , Economics , Mathematical Statistics, physics
Admitting Institutes : There are around 3000 seats in postgraduate programmes at 21 IITs for the academic year 2024-25. JAM 2024 score will be used to admit the candidates subject to satisfying the Eligibility Requirements (ER)s and Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and any other necessary requirements , without any additional interview or written test. JAM 2024 Score is also likely to be used by IISc Bengaluru, IISERs, IIPE, JNCASR, and CFTIs such as NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET, DIAT and CCMN.

About IIT JAM Exam: It is a Computer Based Test in SEVEN Test Papers at the undergraduate level Test Papers consist of (i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), (ii) Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and (iii) Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions.
Candidates may appear in ONE or TWO Test Papers. For two test papers, the second paper must be carefully selected to avoid session clash. Candidates in merit list are eligible for admission to around 3000 seats in various postgraduate programmes at IITs.
