Asia University Rankings
The country’s top management institutions, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM A) & Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM B) have dropped in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Global MBA Rankings 2021. Other institutes from India that featured in the list of the world’s top 200 B-schools include GLIM Chennai, IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode.
The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has released the 17th edition of the QS World University Rankings 2021. Around 5,500 universities from 80 different locations participated in the QS World University Rankings 2021 of which 1000 universities are ranked by QS, after evaluation.
The QS World University Rankings are known to use a consistent methodological framework, compiled using six simple metrics which effectively capture university performance. This year’s rankings are launched at a challenging time for the whole world, with COVID-19 impacting universities and students alike.
Highlights
- There are 47 new entrants in this year’s top 1,000.
- Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT) continues its streak at number one – for 9 th time in a in a row.
- Only three educational institutes from India in the top 200 list – IIT Bombay (172), IISc Bangalore (185) and IIT Delhi (193) feature.
- Among Indian P rivate Universities, BITS Pilani and the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) have dropped out of the top 1,000 list.
- In the top 100 global universities, 27 are from USA, 18 from United Kingdom, 7 from china, 2 from Singapore and 26 institutions from Asia continent.
- Universities were evaluated according to the following metrics: Aademic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Faculty/Student Ratio (20%), Citations per faculty (20%); International Faculty Ratio (5%) and International Student Ratio (5%).
