GATE Exam Registration. IIT M Tech Applications & NIT PhD Admissions 2027

Updated as on Aug 26. GATE 2027  ~ IIT Madras, the organizing institute for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027, has released the key schedule and major updates for candidates. Engineering graduates and final-year students looking for Master’s admissions (M.E./M.Tech/Ph.D.) or recruitment across Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) can complete their application via the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal.

GATE 2027: IIT Madras Announces Mandatory DigiLocker Verification

Once the results are out on March 19, you have two main pathways:

• COAP 2026: For admissions into M.Tech programs at IITs and for PSU job offers.

• CCMT 2026: For centralized admissions into M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan at NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

GATE Admit Card : IIT Guwahati, has updated the official website to state that the date has been pushed back. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 admit card release date has been postponed. The admit card was scheduled to be released on January 2, and now the new date for the same will be announced soon.

COAP Registrations: The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) ]has officially launched by IIT Roorkee. Registration for COAP 2026 opened on March 27, 2026, following the release of the GATE 2026 results. This portal is a mandatory step for any colleges seeking M.Tech admission at an IIT based on GATE scores.

New Paper Introduced – Robotics and Automation (RA): A brand-new paper code Robotics and Automation (RA) has been added, expanding the total count to 30 test papers.

Syllabus & Code Changes: Revised syllabus have been issued across papers, along with specific updates in Biotechnology (BT), Textile Engineering & Fibre Science (TF), and sectional paper codes for XE, XH, and XL.

GATE Result: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) announced the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) results on March 19. Candidates can now download their GATE 2025 scorecards starting March 28 from the official website. To access the result, candidates must log in to the portal.

GATE Schedule, Eligibility, Fees, Pattern, Results Date & M. Tech Admission 2026

GATE will be conducted for 30 test papers. The candidates can appear either in one or up to two test papers. The mode of examination will be in English.

Candidates who wish to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering  (GATE) 2025 will be able to fill out the registration form on the official website . “The Application Portal for GATE  is expected to open by 30th August 2024,” reads the official website of GATE 2025.

GATE  Exam Feb 11 Paper Analysis

Mandatory DigiLocker Verification: Registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian nationals. Key details including Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email ID, Profile Picture, Address, and Verified ID Card number will be directly fetched from DigiLocker. Candidates are advised to set up or verify their DigiLocker account before applying.

GATE Registration: How to apply

Step 1: Visit the official website at https://gate2026.iitg.ac.in/

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link given for ONLINE REGISTRATION and register yourself. 

Step 3: Now again go to the homepage, click on FILL APPLICATION FORM, and log in. 

Step 4: Now proceed with filling out the GATE application form 2024 and upload all the necessary documents. 

Step 5: Make the payment of online application fees. 

Step 6: Download the confirmation page and take its printout for further use. A direct link to apply online will be provided here once the GATE application link is activated on the official portal.

GATE Eligibility

 Education: Candidates who have completed graduation or are in their third or higher year of an undergraduate degree are eligible. Those who have/are pursuing a degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, or arts can apply.

Nationality: Candidates should be citizens of India to apply for GATE. Those from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, or the UAE are also eligible.

GATE International Examination Centre: GATE 2025 Examination will be conducted in the following cities: Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal), Singapore.

CCMT NIT M Tech Admission 

A coloured print hard copy of the GATE  admit card is to be carried and one valid id proof (in original) which can be aadhar card / voter id / PAN card / college id / employee id / driving license.
International registered candidates are required to carry their passport / college id / government issued id / employee id for identification purposes.
A virtual calculator will be provided to participants.

New Subjects In GATE : The 2025 edition of GATE exam will see some changes, including introduction of two new subjects — Environmental Science and Engineering, or ES, and Humanities and Social Science, or XS.

Maximum Two papers in GATE 2025: A candidate may appear either in ONE or TWO subject papers. For candidates who choose Two papers, the combination must be from the approved list of combinations and subject to the availability of infrastructure and date.

A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program.

IIT Kanpur GATE 2023 Exam Answer Key

A candidate who has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE 2023 exam.

However, the candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Planning, etc.

Candidates who have obtained / are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India: Must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree (duration: at least 3 years) in Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce.
