Value for Money – MBA

The cost of an MBA programme and the returns associated with it, has been one of the major decision making factors for MBA aspirants. With the present day scenario, pursuing an MBA from a top B School is a significant investment and makes all the more sense to evaluate the returns. 

Many of the first generation business schools at the IITs along with few second generation IIMs, are currently preferred choices for aspirants seeking a top MBA college. NITIE, IIFT, SPJIMR are among other top choices in the list of value for money MBA/PGDM, ahead of otherwise sought-after destinations – XLRI Jamshedpur and MDI Gurgaon. 

FMS Delhi or JBIMS Mumbai remain undisputed leaders and way ahead of other Business Schools in offering ROI (Return on Investments for MBA/PGDM programmes) due to the exceptionally low tuition fees. The academic fees of FMS is higher than hostel fees of most B Schools while the average placement is at par with IIM A, B, C. 

Hence, in all fairness these two B Schools are listed separately as exceptions and not considered in this league.

Surprisingly, MDI Gurgaon which used to be considered as preferred choice after the top 4 IIMs – A, B, C or L, today trails behind the IITs – School of Management, NITIE, SPJIMR, IIFT Delhi, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Shillong, IIM Indore and IIM Raipur, in the value for money preference category. 

SPJIMR Mumbai remains a top choice among aspirants in the private category list of B Schools followed by IIFT Delhi and then XLRI Jamshedpur as far as value for money is concerned.

Out of the 6 older IIT’s three IIT’s – SJMSOM IIT Bombay, DMS IIT D and VGSOM are considered great options in terms of ROI, Placement, batch size and profiles offered.
