Today we are comparing : MDI Murshidabad, IBS, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management(LBSIM), and IMI -Kolkata. So, here comes the new series in Compare Business Schools – Fact check.
Formed in the year 2014 MDI Murshidabad is the youngest B-School amongst the comparative lot. Both IBS, Hyderabad and LBSIM were formed in 1996 and IMI – Kolkata in the year 2010. Apart from IBS, Hyderabad rest all the Institutions offer PGDM Programmes with LBSIM offering 5 different PGDM Programme.
All the Institutions offer Residential Programme in their respective Campuses. The huge 91 acre lush green Campus of IBS Hyderabad offers all the state of the art facility and amenities.MDI Murshidabad Campus is located in Jangipur is on a 10 acre plot and offers a serene atmosphere far away from the hustling and bustling of the city. LBSIM Campus is located in the heart of the city(Delhi) and has easy access to Corporate connects. Like LBSIM, IMI – Kolkata also has its Campus in the heart of the Kolkata City.

IBS, Hyderabad accepts scores of almost all Major Exams, Whereas its CAT- XAT -GMAT for LBSIM & IMI -K and its only CAT for MDI Murshidabad. The CAT Cut-off Scores are between 70 – 80 with MDI M having the highest cut-off of 80.In terms of Seats/ Intake – IMI -K has the lowest number with 120 seats for all streams with MDI m at 180, LBSIM with 380 is second highest after IBS, Hyderabad which has an Annual Intake of 1000.

In terms of Tuition fees & Placement Salary comparison, LBSIM and IBS are pegged at 15.5 and 16 Lakh respectively, whereas MDI -M is at 14.5 Lakh and IMI -K (without hostel fees) are at 13.2 Lakh. In terms of Placement CTC, the table takes a topsy with MDI – M heading at an AVerage Salary of Rs 12.6 LPA, followed closely with LBSIM at Rs12.5; but IMI – K and IBS are little below the slab at Rs 10.6 LPA and Rs 10.40 LPA respectively.
So if considered in terms of overall ROI (Fees viz -a-viz Avg CTC) MDI – Murshidabad, although not in close proximity with its Gurgaon Campus in terms of its offerings (Placement & other facilities) can be closely considered with LBSIM, which definitely will be the choice for PGDM – Finance and other prominent Global recruiters. IBS Hyderabad although leads in terms of Highest CTC (International) of Rs 58 LPA but comes at the end of the list behind IMI – Kolkata in terms of overall Average CTC.
