The International Management Institute, Bhubaneswar (IMI Bhubaneswar), proudly hosted its 12th Annual Convocation Ceremony to confer the Post Graduate Diploma to the graduating students of the PGDM 2022-24 batch. Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, the Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha, graced the event as Chief Guest. Shri Sunil Mitra, Independent Director on the Board of Directors of CESC Limited, and Shri Himadri Das, Director General, conferred the diplomas to the graduating students.
IMI New Delhi Convocations 2024
The convocation ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Director, and other distinguished guests. A total of 180 students, along with one FPM student, graduated during this momentous occasion, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.
At the outset, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, delivered an inspiring inaugural address. He highlighted India’s Amrit Kaal, emphasising self-reliance, sustainable business ecosystems, value-driven social leadership, and the importance of relearning, unlearning, and continuous learning in shaping future-ready business leaders. He presented the Gold Medal to Mr. Divyansh Singh and the Silver Medal to Ms. Dipti Shaw. Additionally, the Dr. Rama Prasad Goenka Best Student Medal was awarded to Mr. Divyansh Singh, while the Director’s Medal for Overall Contribution was conferred upon Mr. Tanmay Ranjan Sahoo.
Following this, Prof. (Dr.) P.C. Biswal, Director of IMI Bhubaneswar, proudly highlighted the institute’s exceptional achievements, including securing an impressive NIRF rank of 61 among 876 participating institutes, earning prestigious international accreditation by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), and recognition from NAAC and EFMD Global. He lauded the dedicated efforts of the faculty, which led to the publication of 82 research papers in reputed Scopus-indexed journals during the last academic year.
Acknowledging the stellar placements achieved by students, Prof. Biswal extended his heartfelt gratitude to the corporate partners for their unwavering trust in the institute’s talent. He also announced the remarkable milestone of the IMIB Journal of Innovation and Management, which has successfully published four issues in collaboration with SAGE Publications over the past two years. The journal is indexed by Google Scholar and EBSCO, reinforcing its academic excellence.
Prof. Biswal further noted the institute’s international outreach, highlighting seminars that attracted renowned researchers from Portugal, UAE, and beyond. He proudly referenced two flagship international conferences—the International Conference on Global Business Environment, organized in collaboration with EGADE Business School, and the International Conference on Banking and Finance. In alignment with the National Innovation and Startup Policy, Prof. Biswal detailed the launch of the IMI Incubation Foundation in 2019. He also announced the institute’s pioneering online certificate program for corporate executives on “People Analytics,” launched in October 2024, with three more such programs in the pipeline. Lastly, he shared the prestigious accomplishment of IMI Bhubaneswar in receiving ESG assurance audited by Ernst & Young (E&Y), further cementing the institute’s commitment to sustainability and governance excellence.

Continuing the address, Prof. Himadri Das, Director General, spoke about the SIP Project Award, which was conferred upon Ms. Madhurima Majumdar, Mr. Ayan Dutta, and Mr. Rohit Saraiwala from the PGDM 2022-24 batch, recognizing their exceptional contributions. Concluding his speech, Prof. Das offered valuable advice to the graduating students, urging them to take initiative, embrace adaptability, and maintain a positive outlook on life. He encouraged the new-age managers to embody compassion, creativity, and courage while navigating the complexities of the modern business world. Prof. Das also emphasised the importance of building collaborative networks to thrive in an ever-changing and uncertain global landscape.
