About 82,486 students will be awarded degrees for the academic year 2016-17 during 7th convocation ceremony of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, the officials informed that ESL Narasimhan, government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and chancellor of JNTUH will preside over the convocation. Apart from awarding degrees, 60 students will also be accorded with gold medals for their excellence in academic performance. Of the total number of graduating students, 54,580 pursued BTech and others include BPharm, MBA, MTech, MCA, MPharm and PhD students.
“The university has initiated various steps to streamline the technical education in the state including introduction of biometric attendance for faculty and post-graduate students. This resulted in improvement of students pass percentage,” read the press release issued by the university.
Officials also highlighted the campus placements offered to the graduating batch. “Many MNCs such as TCS, Microsoft, Amazon, Wells Farco, Fiat, Bhari Airtel and 55 others reputed companies have participated in the campus recruitment process and offered 663 jobs to our students. The training and placement cell of the university conducted job fairs in all the districts of Telangana state,” read the release.
The university has also introduced a new programme in MTech with specialization in cyber forensics and information security. Apart from this, the university has also signed memorandum of understanding with five universities of international repute and government, private and research organisations to enhance the quality of education in constituent and affiliated colleges.
