Kozhikode, 01 August, 2025: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) successfully concluded a five-day leadership development programme titled ‘Leadership 4.0: Leadership in the Cognitive Revolution, Management & Governance in the emerging world of Digital Leadership’ under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The 5-day programme, welcomed 29 mid- to senior-level professionals from 20 ITEC partner countries for intensive in-campus training and cross-cultural exchange.

This marks the sixth such offline ITEC training programme hosted by IIM Kozhikode since 2019, as part of its commitment to global knowledge sharing and leadership development. The participating countries included Armenia, Bhutan, Fiji, Ghana, Indonesia, Jamaica, Liberia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Paraguay, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Zambia.
Over the five days, the programme offered a rich blend of classroom learning, immersive experiences, and cultural exchange. Key academic sessions included Mindful Leadership in the 4.0 World: Coaching and Mentoring, Creativity for Social Innovation, Communicating in a Disruptive World, Wellness and Stress Management, Responsible Digital Design for Tomorrow, and Entrepreneurial Finance and Financing of Firms in India. Delegates also explored broader contextual themes such as the Evolution of the IT Industry, the Indian Economy and Leadership Lessons, and Exploring Personal Strengths. A guided visit to India’s only Business Museum on campus provided historical perspectives on entrepreneurship and enterprise. The programme also featured a special Interaction Session with the Director IIM Kozhikode, a Cultural Evening show-casing local traditions, and a reflective Valedictory Function.

Speaking at the valedictory session, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, thanked the Ministry of External Affairs for entrusting the Institute with this prestigious programme once again. “India’s gift to the world has always been knowledge. Through programmes like ITEC, we share not just insights but a spirit of global fellowship rooted in trust, innovation, and service. I hope each delegate returns home as a torchbearer of transformative thinking and ethical leadership, carrying a part of India’s wisdom and warmth with them.”
As part of the immersive experience, the delegates undertook a study tour to Wayanad district, aimed at providing real-world insights into India’s community-based development and industrial innovation. The tour included a visit to the Nenmeni Sudha Jala Vitharana Society in Nenmeni Gram Panchayat — a successful community-based organization (CBO) focused on local water distribution. This interaction gave participants an opportunity to understand pathways of social innovation in India, engage directly with CBO members, and witness firsthand the operations of grassroots governance models with potential for adaptation in their own countries. The tour also featured a visit to the Achoor Tea Factory of Harrison Malayalam Limited, where participants explored the intricacies of tea processing and plantation management, along with the chance to experience and purchase products at the factory outlet.
Delegates expressed heartfelt appreciation for the hospitality and intellectual engagement offered by IIM Kozhikode and the Government of India. Many pledged to apply the insights gained during the programme in their respective countries and act as conduits of Indo-global collaboration.
