Kozhikode, August 21, 2025: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), the fifth IIM established by the Government of India, celebrated its 30th Foundation Day on Thursday, marking 29 years of academic excellence. The occasion was graced by Mr. Debajyoti Ray Chaudhuri, MD & CEO, National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL), who was the Chief Guest, along with Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Founded in 1996, IIM Kozhikode has grown to become one of the fastest rising IIMs in the country, with prestigious global accreditations from EFMD (EQUIS) and AMBA (UK). The Institute has consistently featured among the Top 3 IIMs in the NIRF Rankings, and in 2024-25, achieved a major milestone by climbing nine spots to Rank #68 globally in the Financial Times Masters in Management (MiM) Rankings.
In his Foundation Day address, Mr. Chaudhuri congratulated IIM Kozhikode on entering its third decade of excellence and commended its pioneering initiatives such as championing diversity, introducing satellite-based education, and initiating the Calicut Half-Marathon. Highlighting India’s success stories like UPI, Aadhaar, and Digital Public Infrastructure, he remarked that “innovation, when thoughtfully designed, has the power to transform millions of lives.” He further stressed the need to create an enabling ecosystem that nurtures entrepreneurship and innovation.
Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, in his address, congratulated the IIMK community and called for a renewed collective pursuit of excellence to further the Institute’s growth. He said, “Our foundation stands strong with a vision to position IIM Kozhikode as a global benchmark in management education. Our mission of ‘Globalizing Indian Thought’ rests on three fundamental values: Authenticity (Satyam), Sustainability (Nityam), and Fulfilment (Purnam). As long as these values are lived by generations to come, our institution will continue to defy decay and remain timeless.”
As part of the celebrations, IIM Kozhikode also felicitated faculty and staff members who have completed 15 and 25 years of service, in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the Institute’s journey.
