IIT Director: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has invited applications for the appointment of Directors at three premier institutions (Indian Institute of Technology) – IIT Delhi, IIT Mandi and IIT Indore. The recruitment process is aimed at identifying experienced academic leaders who can guide the institutes’ teaching, research, innovation and administrative growth.

Applicants are expected to hold a PhD with a first-class or equivalent qualification at the preceding degree level. While candidates with an engineering background will be preferred, those from science, mathematics and management may also be considered in exceptional cases.

The eligibility criteria require candidates to have a strong academic record, at least 10 years of teaching experience at the level of Professor, experience in supervising PhD scholars and a minimum of five years of administrative experience. The appointed Directors will receive a fixed monthly salary of ₹2.25 lakh, along with applicable allowances. The tenure will be five years or until the Director reaches 70 years of age, whichever occurs earlier.

As part of the application process, candidates must submit their resume, a two-page statement explaining their suitability for the position and a two-page vision statement outlining their priorities for the respective IIT. Applicants are also required to provide details of at least two distinguished referees familiar with their professional work.
