B Tech in Data Science, Best Engineering Colleges in India
A civil engineer should be able to meet the construction needs of the contemporary world and should be able to use all types of resources to build a modern and aesthetic structure. The Civil Engineering course also involves protecting the environment and improving existing infrastructure.
Some of the areas that are currently in demand for B.Tech civil engineering students are Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation of the structures. Tools and technologies used by a Civil Engineer are:
- Prisms and Reflectors
- Grade Rods
- Auto Computer-aided Design Software
- Engineering Design Software
- Modelling Software
- Magnetic Locators
- MATLAB
- MS-Project
The eligibility criteria of B.Tech in Civil Engineering:
- The candidate should have a minimum 10+2 qualification from a recognized board.
- Must have compulsorily studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the qualifying level.
Topics covered in Civil Engineering:
The topics that are usually covered in Civil Engineering are Basic Electronics, Mechanics, Material Science, Engineering Drawing, Electrical Technology, Manufacturing Processes, Water Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Hydraulics, Structural Analysis, Surveying I & II, Water Resources Engineering, and IT & CAD Applications, among others.
Why is VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) an ideal place for Civil Engineering?
The B.Tech in Civil Engineering at VIT has 46 faculty members from elite institutions across the globe. Besides high quality teaching and research at both UG and PG levels, faculty members of the school are actively involved in executing a number of R&D and Consultancy projects from government agencies including DST, ISRO, UGC, AICTE, and various other reputed industries. The School of Civil Engineering at VIT has a strong connection with the industry, including L&T, HCC, DLF, RAMCO, CCL, Godrej, and TCS. The school has also regularly benefited from international linkages with a number of leading foreign universities such as Deakin University, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and West Virginia University.
The VIT School of Civil Engineering has also received the “Excellence in Civil Engineering and Architecture Education” award at the 6th Construction Industry Awards 2018.
VITEEE – Vellore Institute of Technology Entrance Exam:
VITEEE (Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam) is a national level engineering entrance examination, which offers admission to 20 B. Tech programs at VIT campuses located in Vellore, Chennai, Amravati-AP, and Bhopal. Every year, approximately 2 lakh aspirants attempt this exam to grab one of the 5,000 available seats. Candidates have appeared in the admission process that spanned across 28 states, eight union territories, and 12 countries (Middle East, Indonesia, Nepal, Nigeria, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, UK, and Singapore) across the globe.
The VITEEE exam will consist of 125 questions for which there will be a time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes, and the exam will be divided into 5 sections, namely Physics, Chemistry, English, Aptitude, and Mathematics/Biology. Individuals who take Math’s, Physics, English, Chemistry, and Aptitude will be considered for all engineering programs. Any candidate appearing for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and aptitude tests will be eligible for B. Tech Bio stream programmes only. The best part of VITEEE exam is that there is no negative marking for wrong answers.
