Bangalore college asks COVID positive student to come and sit for physical exam
Is exams more important than the lives of these kids ?
A panic stricken student of an engineering college in Bengaluru reported a case where the Head of the Department has informed students who are COVID positives to sit for physical exams in the college.
Rakesh (name changed) 1st year engineering student studying in Sapthagiri College of Engineering in Bengaluru, who had symptoms of COVID got his RT PCR test done from the lab of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and came to know he was COVID positive on April 15th. Since he has been in isolation and struggling to cope up with his deteriorating health conditions.
However, Rakesh and his friends, many of whom were COVID positives, went into a state of further shock and dismay when they received a note from the HOD stating separate arrangements will be made for COVID positive students as they take the exam.
The note stated :
Dear Students,
If anybody has covid positive, bring it to the notice of the class teacher along with your USN by 11 am.
This data helps us to allocate such students to a special room at the time of examination.
Thank you all & all the best…

Students like Rakesh, with strong symptoms at their 4th, 5th or 7th day of COVID, physically and mentally distressed, have no clue as to what will be the fate of students who are unable to walk down to the examination centre to sit for the semester exams.
With horror stories of young lives coming to an end due to Corona, pouring in from campuses like IIT Roorkee, we are dismayed about the plight of students in campuses encouraging physical class rooms.
Is exams more important than lives ?
We tried to contact authorities at the college, however, could not connect with anyone.
