Amritsar, Punjab: Indian Institute of Management Amritsar (IIM Amritsar) successfully inaugurated the 9th batch of their flagship MBA Program, the 3rd Batch of the MBA-Business Analytics Program, the 3rd Batch of the MBA-Human Resources Program, and the 4th Batch of the PhD Program on the 10th of July 2023, at Hotel Hyatt Regency Amritsar. The function was embellished with the presence of Shri K.S. Shetty, Director of Human Resources of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, who also was the chief guest for the event.

The dais was graced with the presence of Dr Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director, IIM Amritsar, Dr.Mahima Gupta, Dean, Academics, Dr. Pavneet Singh and Dr. Nabendu Paul, MBA Chairpersons and Dr. Ankit Sharma Chairperson Admissions, apart from the chief guest. The function started with the auspicious lighting of a lamp and the Hon. Director felicitating the chief guest.
In his address, Dr. Ankit Sharma, Chairperson of Admissions, expressed his immense pleasure in addressing the new batch and said that the journey for the students has only just begun. After welcoming the batch, Dr. Sharma said, “Nobody can take away the educational wealth you built in these two years and encouraged the students to make the most of it”. He urged the students to collaborate, compete, and interact with like-minded people and said that how one spends a couple of years at IIM Amritsar defines their journey. He also formally handed the batch over to the MBA Chairperson.
Dr. Nabendu Paul, Chairperson, MBA, briefed the batch about the importance of discipline, learning consistently and asked the students to actively take part in various student activities, as it increases one’s teamwork and interaction skills. As the students are equipped with advanced and flexible management skills, creating an ever-lasting impact on everyone is essential. He ended his address by stating that the more one learns, the more confident they become, and urged the batch to keep learning constantly.

IIM Amritsar Kicks off International Conference on Management of MSMEs 2023
Dr. Mahima Gupta, Dean of Academics, briefed the gathering about the history of IIM Amritsar by talking about the inception of the MBA Program in 2015, the BA and HR programs in 2021, the EMBA program, PhD program, the Post-Doctoral Fellowship program, and the various certification and customized programs. She quoted, “Create it, plan and achieve all the way”, alluding to the effort one must take in a B-School with premium faculty and conduct oneself in the most dignified manner in an institute like IIM Amritsar. She concluded her address by wishing the students the very best.
Dr. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director IIM Amritsar, commenced his address in his unique, light-hearted manner and reminisced about the three years of him being the director of the institute. He added that the institute will be inaugurating the MSc program with IIT Ropar along with the 339 students of MBA09, MBA-BA03, MBA-HR03 & PhD04. He congratulated the students for making it to the country’s top brass amidst the stress, competition, etc., and urged the students to satisfy all of the stakeholders. Talking about academia, he stressed that there are other areas where students should excel and focus on overall development. He concluded his address by giving the students three valuable lessons: success is essential but not at someone else’s cost to be a true leader by creating actual changes. He enunciated the importance of ethics & integrity in life.
Shri K.S.Shetty, Director – Human Resources of HPCL, congratulated the batch for being in the top 300 of the 16000 applications received in his inaugural address. He started on a high note by emphasizing certain principles every student should uphold and not fall into the trap of complacency. He encouraged the students to thinks of life as an endeavor and being on a continued path of success, along with hard work & diligence; consistency is essential. He added that years of interviewing candidates as an HR across different parts of the country, taught him that authenticity plays a key role in identifying a leader. He also advised them not to ‘chase their biggest bidder’ and follow a greater goal, citing anecdotal examples.
