The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) has officially commenced its academic session for 2026–27, welcoming a highly diverse new cohort of 634 participants across four flagship management programs. Reaffirming its commitment to diversity and gender inclusion, women have once again outnumbered men in the incoming batch, accounting for 349 female students compared to 285 male students.

The new academic session was inaugurated by IIM Indore Director, Prof. Himanshu Rai, alongside Chief Guest Lt. Gen. Ajay Chandpuria, Commandant of the Army War College, Mhow.

Breakdown of Gender Diversity Across Flagship Programs
The 2026–27 cohort highlights a historic surge in female representation, particularly within the human resource and core management tracks:
- Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP): Out of 487 enrolled students, women comprise the majority with 265 female students.
- PGP in Human Resource Management (PGP-HRM): This batch achieved a staggering 95% female representation, comprising 41 women and only two men.
- Integrated Programme in Management (IPM-IV): The fourth-year transition batch continues strong diversity trends.
- Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM): The research cohort welcomes top academic minds focused on advanced management studies.

“You are not here merely to earn a degree, but to discover yourselves and the difference you can make,” said, Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore.
Addressing the incoming business leaders, Prof. Himanshu Rai emphasized the importance of integrity, empathy, and lifelong learning. He urged students to remain humble and adapt swiftly to economic changes to become socially responsible corporate leaders.
Lt. Gen. Ajay Chandpuria called on the cohort to draw leadership lessons from the military framework. He highlighted the critical value of moral courage, adaptability, and placing collective human outcomes ahead of individual milestones.

Welcoming the participants, PGP Chair Prof. Sayantan Banerjee closed the induction by emphasizing that the upcoming academic journey will rigorously balance operational excellence with ethical leadership and sound corporate judgment.
About IIM Indore: The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore), established in 1996, is a premier management institution and the sixth member of the IIM family. It’s an autonomous public business school situated on a scenic 193-acre campus in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The institute has been recognized as an institution of national importance. IIM Indore, is the Indian Institute of Management after IIM Calcutta (1961), IIM Ahmedabad (1961), IIM Bangalore (1973), IIM Lucknow (1984) and IIM Kozhikode (1996).[10] It initially functioned out of the Government Polytechnic College in Rajendra Nagar, Indore.
