While inaugurating the 2 day science festival ‘InvoVIT-2018’, at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) at Vellore Mr. K. Kalaiselvan, Executive Director, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Ranipet, encouraged students and said they are the future stake holders of the nation’s economic growth. He urged them to take deep interest in research and come out with innovations and invent new gadgets that would benefit mankind.
Mr. G.V. Selvam, Vice-President at VIT presided over the event where over 600 students from more than 75 schools between classes IX and XII from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, took part. Mr. Selvam said that the science festival is being held every year to bring out the latent talent of students’ and to generate interest in science and encourage them for research studies. Prizes to the tune of INR three lakh would be distributed to the students, who win in events such as working model, idea presentation, poster presentation and quiz.
Mr. Selvam also stated that at VIT a lot of emphasis is on research and to nurture new ideas and entrepreneurship ventures, VIT TBI – a Technology Business Incubator has been set up.
Students interested in admissions in VIT can sit for VITEEE after their 12th exams.
VIT was the first institute in the country to have received the 4-STAR rating from QS, the International University Rating Agency in 2016. In a bid to prepare its students to be able to work anywhere in the world, VIT has collaborated with 207 universities in different countries.
