In a major development for management education in India, Prof. Bhimaraya Metri has been officially

granted a second consecutive five-year term as the Director of the Indian Institute of Management  Nagpur (IIM Nagpur). The reappointment received formal clearance from the President of India, who serves as the Visitor to the premier institute.

According to an official communication issued by the Ministry of Education on July 1, 2026, the appointment has been approved under Section 16(2) of the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017.

The Ministry has instructed the Board of Governors (BoG) of IIM Nagpur to issue the formal appointment letter and secure the necessary documentation for official records. This decision follows a formal institutional proposal originally submitted by the Board of Governors in 2025.
