Amritsar, Punjab: IIM Amritsar (Indian Institute of Management Amritsar) successfully conducted the International Yoga Day programs in the transit campus and the hostel premises on 21st June 2022. While the event was conducted offline in the campus premises, the program in the hostels, marred by rain, was conducted online. A brief introduction to Yoga and a session was conducted in both the premises, and this was followed by the telecast of the message by The Hon. Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi.
The instructors of the day were Ms. Bhavna Uttamchandani and Mr. Rajesh Kumar. Ms. Uttamchandani, a trained practitioner, has extensive experience in conducting yoga sessions and shares her expertise through her online community often. Mr. Rajesh Kumar is also a trained practitioner of Yoga with over 14 years of training experience, having tutored over 550 students.
The event on the campus focussed on various techniques like Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, and Kriya Practise, where the faculty and staff of the institute came together to embrace the yoga way of living. The event in the hostel premises was coordinated by the Sports Committee of the institute, and had to be moved online due to bad weather. However, this was not enough to dampen any spirits, as the event saw participation of over 240 students.
The program was preceded by the distribution of T-Shirts to all the participants of the event.
