Amritsar. The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar (IIMAm) marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its first batch of the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). This program leads to an MBA (Dual Degree) and offers students a BSc in Quantitative Finance and Economics (QFE). The pioneering batch comprises students selected from all across the country, reflecting the programme’s diversity and inclusivity.

The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Prof Samir Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIMAm and other dignitaries, including Chief Guest Mr Mangesh Soman, Chief Economist, JSW Steel Ltd; Dr Arun Kumar Kaushik, Dean Administration; and Dr Chetan Chitre, Chairperson, IPM. Dr Chitre, in his inaugural address, congratulated the students for taking up this challenging course and emphasised the values of cooperation and mutual respect as key drivers for success in academic and professional pursuits. He encouraged students to seek guidance from faculty and seniors whenever required, highlighting the collaborative spirit of IIMAm.

Prof Samir K Srivastava inspired the batch by underscoring the importance of teamwork, decision-making, and resilience. He highlighted the diverse representation of students as a strength that would shape their growth beyond the classroom, fostering holistic development. He also expressed gratitude to the faculty and staff for their contributions in bringing the IPM programme to fruition.
Delivering the keynote address, Chief Guest Mr Mangesh Soman drew from his three decades of experience as a macroeconomist and strategist. He congratulated IIMAm on designing this innovative programme and advised students to cultivate evidence-based thinking. Stressing the importance of data-driven decision-making, he recommended combining robust analysis with effective communication while maintaining integrity. He urged students to rely on original data sources and conventional media for credible insights, reminding them to take a step back when required and form multiple perspectives.
