CSAB 2023: Ministry of Education like last year (2022), this year too has assigned the National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) to conduct the centralised counseling for admission into Under – Gradute technical programmes and process seat allocation for the year 2023 for admission to various undergraduate programs at 31 NITs, IIEST, 26 IIITs, 03 SPAs (School of Planning and Architecture) and 36 GFTI (Government funded technical institutes), all collectively called the ‘NIT+ System.’

Central Seat Allocation Board:The centralised seat allocation for the NIT+ system will be conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) along with the Joint Admission Board (JAB) for IITs. The seat allocation will be based on the common rank list (CRL) of candidates in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), whereas seat allocation to IITs will be based on the CRL in JEE (Advanced).

- The CSAB-Special Rounds will begin on 31 July 2023 after the completion of JoSAA rounds.
- The whole counselling process is expected to be completed by 14 August 2023
- Classes in the NIT+ System are expected to start by 17 August 2023.
- The CSAB-Special Rounds will be conducted by NIT Rourkela through the online portal of CSAB (https://csab.nic.in).
The CSAB-NEUT counseling rounds got started from June 26 to allocate seats under the scheme of ‘Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States / UTs lacking such facilities in the AICTE-approved institutions’ to candidates of North-East states and Union Territories as informed by NIT Rourkela.

The entire process of choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification will be conducted online for the convenience of students. It is estimated that approximately 2.5–3.0 lakh JEE Main qualified candidates are expected to register in the CSAB for admission to about 40000 seats in NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs, and Other-GFTIs. This includes 20 per cent female seats reserved in NITs.
About CSAB : The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) was constituted by the Ministry of Education (Erstwhile Ministry of Human Resource Development) in 2013 to replace the Central Counseling Board (CCB). The CSAB is responsible for centralized counseling of all Engineering/Technology and Architecture/Planning undergraduate seats in NITs/ IIEST/ IIITs/ SPAs/ and a few other Technical Institutes funded fully or partially by the Central or State Government (Other-GFTIs), together called the NIT+ System.
