Hyderabad, Sep 05, 2022. A Free Day Care Centre now comes up for Industrial workers’ children at Moulali just like a Day Care service available for well to do families’ children. It is called AVEKSHA. Hyderabad is the only city in India to come with it. The AVEKSHA Day Care facility is offered free for women who work in various factories.
- A Free Day Care Centre which has come up for the benefit of women who work in factories and their toddlers, probably is the first of its kind in India
- It is free and is on par with the best in terms of joyful learning environment that encourages the toddlers to enjoy their stay throughout the day
- It is 6thin the series and 20 more are likely to come up
- After 20 centres are done in Telangana, the model a first of its kind in India will be taken nationally and will be replicated across the states in India
The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE) is thinking about it. AVEKSHA Day Care Centres are powered by SIDBI(Small Industries Development Bank of India), the Principal Financial Institution for Promotion, Financing and Development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector and others. The sixth centre in the series of 20 was inaugurated here in the city at Moulali on Saturday. It was set up in the Moulali Industrial estate.
It was inaugurated by Mr. Madhusudhan, CEO, TSIIC. Ms. Madhavi, Zonal Manager, TSIIC, Mr. Vidya Sagar;DGM SIDBI and Ms. Raina Bihani.
The centre is equipped with trained caretakers and has recreational facilities, necessary amenities,
best and joyful learning environment that encourages the toddlers to enjoy their stay throughout the day and CC cameras to ensure safety of the children. In terms of infrastructure and facilities, it is on par with the best in comparison to any private Day Care Centre. The Day Care as we all know is a place where parents pay to leave their kid while they go to work or engage professionally.
Each centre is spread over an area of 500 to 1000 sqft. They are fully equipped to take care of 20-30 children from 9am to 6 pm. Each centre will have three staff members -a Coordinator, Sr. CareTaker, and Jr. Caretaker.
The holistic welfare of the industrial workers is very important, said Ms Uma Gurkha of COWE while speaking at the inauguration of the centre.
Aveksha means ‘To Take Care Of’. It is a free facility meant for children of women workers especially in the industrial sector and for the underprivileged sections of society, she added.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Madhusudhan, CEO, TSIIC said it is a good initiative. But, the local community in this case the local industrial body should take ownership and see that it is run smoothly for the long time
Mr. Vidya Sagar;DGM SIDBI said the child day care centre for industrial workers is the need of the hour. Sustainability is more important. I am sure the initiative will prove to be successful and this model will be replicated across the industrial belts all over India.
Rupees two lakhs is being invested in setting up each of these centres. Rupees 40,000/- a month will be spent on running these centres.
Aveksha is a National Project by COWE & SIDBI, and is not just limited to Telangana. After completing the 20 centres in Telangana, they plan to have Aveksha centres across India.
SIDBI is bearing the operation costs, TSIIC, CSR wings of private corporations have taken care of the cost of setting up the centre, and the local industrial bodies provide the place.
COWE launched its pilot centre in 2019, and in 2022, in the industrial Areas of Jeedimetla, Cherlapally, Uppal and Kallakal. Submitted by Solus Media
