CLAT 2025 Exam: The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance examination for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes which are offered by the 22 National Law Universities in India. CLAT is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities, comprising of all representative National Law Universities of India.
The notification for CLAT 2025 will be released on July 7 and the exam will be held on December 1 between 2 pm to 4 pm.
CLAT 2025 Exam Dates and Schedule: Dates of the registration for CLAT 2025 is expected to be shared on the notification scheduled to be released on July 7.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Undergraduate –
- There is be no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2025.
- Candidates must secure the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination): Forty five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories; Forty Percent (40%) marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
- Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March/ April, 2025 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT 2025 examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
- The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course they may have applied for.
- If more than one candidate secures an equal number of marks in the CLAT 2025, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under: Higher marks in the component/section on Legal Aptitude in the CLAT 2025 exam; Higher age; Computerised draw of lots.
- Post Graduate –
- An LL.B. Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty percent (50%) marks or equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/ PIO/OCI categories and Forty-Five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
- Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination in April/May 2025 are also eligible to apply.
- There is no upper age limit for appearing for the CLAT 2025.
- Tie Breaker Rule: In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under – Higher age, Computerised draw of lots.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus
- 120 MCQ-s of one mark.
- 0.25 to be deduced for each wrong answer.
- The exam will comprise of 120 questions to be held for 2 hours.
- CLAT UG Question Pattern – English Language, Current Affairs (including General Knowledge), Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques
- CLAT PG Question Pattern – Constitutional Law and other areas of Law including Jurisprudence, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law and Labour and Industrial Law.

Please Note –
- Candidates can enter the CLAT 2025 Test Centre premises from 01:00 pm onwards.
- They should be seated at their respective seats in the CLAT Exam Hall/Classroom by 1:30 pm.
- Once students entered the hall/classroom, they will not be allowed to leave before 4:00 pm.
- Candidates will not be allowed to enter the CLAT Test Centre 2025 after 2:15 pm.
- CLAT 2025 examination will start at 2:00 pm.
