Symbiosis International (Deemed Institution) is a multi-disciplinary university that provides its students and faculty with a lively learning environment centered on its multi-cultural and creative culture. Each student wishing to be admitted to SIBM Pune, must take the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP), a single written test for admission to all Symbiosis postgraduate colleges. The university is a liberal arts education pioneer, with departments in languages, literature, music, philosophy, Indology, art, dance, theater, education, anthropology, political science, international relations, film studies, peace and conflict studies, mathematics and statistics, pure and applied sciences, sociology, economics, sports, and so on, as well as India’s pioneering four-year honors program.
Honors Program: Majors and Minors
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to obtain a distinctive supplementary degree with transdisciplinary knowledge. Honors programs are available at SIT in a range of disciplines. One might select a domain-specific (Honors) or interdisciplinary (Minors) curriculum to reinforce knowledge. Honors programs such as Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Smart Cities, and Urban Analytics, to mention a few, would provide students with a competitive advantage in the technology-driven future.
Students at SIT have the opportunity to conduct research through internships and B. Tech projects at dedicated research centers on campus, such as the Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management (SCWRM), the Symbiosis Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (SCNN), the Symbiosis Center for Medical Image Analysis (SCMIA), and the Symbiosis Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (SCAAI). Students work on supported projects to tackle real-world challenges, which leads to IP filings, conference presentations, and journal articles.
Tinker lab is an exclusive lab workspace for first-year students focusing on hands-on, do-it-yourself activities. This lab aims to teach students how to study, comprehend, and develop diverse engineering topics through live experimentation. It is a method of stimulating students’ creativity and curiosity and instilling confidence in them to think, investigate, and apply scientific concepts.
Academic difficulties, family expectations, peer pressures, and cultural pressures weigh heavily on today’s students. In this situation, the prompt availability of a mentor who can address such issues significantly alleviates the strain. The mentor works with his mentee to learn about his needs, nature, and any health issues he may have, as well as his objectives, hobbies, strengths, and limitations. In addition, the mentor serves as a liaison between the Institute and the parents/guardians.
Effective Industry Collaboration
Our students benefit from Symbiosis’ intimate collaboration with these firms through guest lectures, tech talks, webinars, value-added programs, hackathons, industrial visits, industrial projects, and internships.
