IIM Amritsar, in collaboration with IIT Ropar, offers a full-time, residential, two-year master’s program, Master of Science in Data Science and Management. The programme, co-prepared by IIM Amritsar and IIT Ropar, includes a mix of courses from the areas of Algorithms and Data Structures, Statistics, Data Analytics,Information Systems, and Management.
The program structure:
- Year 1 (IIT Ropar): Focuses on the foundations of data science, including programming, advanced statistics, and machine learning.
- Year 2 (IIM Amritsar): Shifts the focus toward managerial applications, strategic management, and big data analytics in a business context.
Curriculum: The MSDSM curriculum is meticulously crafted to produce “agile data scientists.” Students engage in core modules such as Programming and Data Structures, Matrix Computations, and Applied AI, alongside business-centric courses like Managerial Communication and Legal Aspects of Business.
A hallmark of the program is the Final Capstone Project in the fourth semester. This project is co-guided by faculty from both institutes, requiring students to solve complex, real-world problems using the full spectrum of their data and management skills.
