In a recent development, the Directorate of Technical Education of the state of Goa has decided to cancel the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) for admission to B. Tech and B. Pharm courses for the year 2024-25. Instead, the admissions for these courses will now be determined based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN scores.

The state Govt has taken this decision as part of recent development, that from 24-25 students seeking admission to professional colleges will have to answer either the JEE MAIN or NEET as applicable. For admissions in Engineering degree courses it should be based on JEE Scores and for B. Pharma, a student’s best aggregate percentile marks scored in Physics and Chemistry either in NEET or JEE will be counted.
Students who desire to study medicine will have to qualify at the NEET (undergraduate) 2024, which includes seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, BHMS (Homeopathy),BAMS(Ayurveda),B.Sc(Nursing) or degree in Veterinary sciences.
The Notice also states admissions to Engineering B.E Degrees courses in the state of GOA for the year 2024-25 shall be carried on the basis of Score/ Rank at Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 which is to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in January and April 2024.
