IIM Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM B or IIM Bangalore) has revised its admission policy for its flagship postgraduate programme once again increasing the weightage percentage to 40%. This has been a gradual increase from 30% to 35% and now 40% for the current batch of students to be admitted through a Common Admission Test (CAT) score.

IIMs shortlist candidates on the basis of CAT score, Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI).
IIM Bangalore uses multiple parameters, namely academic performance in Class 10 and 12, graduation programmes as well and the candidate’s section-wise scores in CAT to judge the suitability of a candidate for the PGP. Relevant work experience, if any, is also given weight in the selection. The institute adopts a two-phase selection process and accordingly, these selection criteria are applied in two phases.
IIM Bangalore Change in admission policy
As per the new admission policy, more weightage will be given to personal interview (PI) round now as the weightage has increased from 35 to 40 per cent this year.
In order to do this, IIM Bangalore has reduced the weightage of marks obtained in Classes 10 and 12 from 15 to 10 per cent each in the shortlisting phase. Additionally, in the final stage, the weight assigned to Class 10 and Class 12 marks has come down from 10 to 5 %.
CAT 2023 records highest ever registrations with over 3 lakh applications: IIM Lucknow
CAT 2023 Exam: This year, the IIMs saw a record number of CAT registrations. “About 3.3 lakh applicants have registered for CAT 2023, which is the highest in the history of CAT that started in 1977,” said exam convener Prof. Sanjeet Singh. This is a big jump from last year’s 2.55 lakh candidates, while 2.31 lakh applied in 2021.
As per the official schedule, the admit cards will be made available from October 25 (5 pm) and the exam will be held on November 26 in three sessions. The Result will likely be released in the second week of January 2024.
