The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I) hosted its 23rd convocation ceremony in an offline mode with a total of 747 students across different programs graduating from the institute. All the top ranks in PGP and PGPHRM programmes were bagged by female students of the institute.
Addressing graduating students, the chief guest for the convocation Sandeep Bakhshi, managing director and CEO, ICICI Bank said, “Digitalisation and technology is a great democratiser as it breaks the barrier of time and distance. People who were earlier not able to get education are now able to get it. This is a great time to enter the world and start a career.”
He advised students to stay away from cynicism, arrogance and resistance as these hinders the success of people.
Sharing his professional journey with students, Bakhshi said, “A very good lesson I got in the early days of my life was that there are three types of arrogance. The first is arrogance of a great persona, second is arrogance of wealth and the third is arrogance of wrong attitude and position. The third arrogance impacts your institution and you must not be entitled to have the third arrogance.”
He stressed on self-evaluation stating that is a very important thing because we consider ourselves as an asset but actually, we become a liability for others. Speaking about the situation in the pandemic, he said we were able to overcome the pandemic due to economic resilience and strong infrastructure that facilitated the shift from offline to online mode. The institute held the convocation in the campus after two years due to pandemic, before this the last offline convocation was held in 2019.
