QS World University Rankings 2023: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT G) has climbed in ranking in the QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2023 by 11 places. IIT Guwahati has received 384th rank in the world in the overall ranking and 37th World rank in Citations per Faculty.
QS University Rankings 2023: IISc ranked world’s best research varsity
QS World University Rankings 2023 released on 8th June 2022 indicates that since 2014, IIT Guwahati has moved up at least 217 places from 601-650 range in 2014 to 384th in 2023. In the 2023 edition, the institution has performed among the top 27% in the QS World University Rankings.
At 37 globally with a score of 96.3%, the Citations per Faculty is the strongest indicator for IIT Guwahati.

Speaking about this performance, Prof T.G. IITs to boycott Times Higher Education World University Rankings
The QS World University Rankings have been published since 2004 and take the following parameters into consideration to decide their ranking:
- Academic Reputation
- Employer Reputation
- Faculty Student Ratio
- Citations per Faculty
- International Faculty Ratio
- International Student Ratio
- Employment Outcome
- International Research Network
In its methodology for 2023, it has analyzed 2462 institutions and ranked 1422 institutions. It has ranked 41 institutions in India.
IIT Bombay, Delhi among top 50 in QS Asia Rankings 2022
In the year 2014, IIT Guwahati became the only academic institution in India that occupied a place among the top 100 world universities under 50 years of age as ranked by Times Higher Education (THE). The institute has continued to maintain its superior position in various national and international rankings. It has retained the 7th position among the best engineering institutions in the country in the ‘India Rankings 2021’ declared by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
