IIT Madras B Tech in AI & Data Analytics (B Tech AI & DS): The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has started their new academic session and the highlight this year has been the newly-launched B Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics course.
In June, IIT Madras launched this new BTech course that emphasises math fundamentals, data science, AI and machine learning foundations, application development and responsible design besides a distinct interdisciplinary flavour. The new course has gained popularity immediately as it became the third most popular course in IIT Madras this year.
As per the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) report 2024, a total of 20323 students showed interest in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (412L) this year. The only two courses which were more popular than this new BTech course were a four-year Computer Science and Engineering programme which had 23,741 interested students and Electrical Engineering which caught eyes of 20,350 students.
Courses that attracted at least 10,000 students (other than the three listed above) were Mechanical Engineering (17922), Aerospace Engineering (14165), Civil Engineering (13901), Chemical Engineering (13841), and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (10485).
Popular courses in IIT Madras: Other courses of IIT Madras gained count choices as follows – Physics: 5443, Biological Science: 5495, Engineering Design: 7189 , Biological Engineering: 7380, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering: 8317, Aerospace Engineering: 9505, Engineering Physics: 9627.
The course which has seen the biggest jump in choice count from last year to 2024 is Physics where the number jumped by 26 per cent — from 4308 in 2023 to 5443 this year. As per India Express Report
