IIT Placement 2021: B Tech Placements have gone virtual at campuses due to the COVID 19 pandemic outbreak and Interviews are being held online for the candidates. But it is raining jobs.
IIT Bombay : 153 pre-placements offers or PPOs received. As many as 18 companies participated on day 1 of the placements for the 2021 batch. The highest offers were made by tech giants – Microsoft, Google, Apple, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm as well as Consulting majors like Boston Consulting Group, Morgan Stanley etc. At the end of day one, international offers continued to flow in. Sony Japan offered a package of JPY 1.63 Crore per annum (Rs 1.15 crore approximately) followed by Honda (R&D) Japan – JPY 82 lakh per annum (Rs 57.8 lakh approximately) and NEC Japan offered JPY 49.24 lakh per annum (Rs 34.7 lakh approximately). Taiwan’s manufacturing major TSMC offered TWD 20.70 lakh per annum (Rs 53.5 lakh approximately). In slot 1.1 at IIT Bombay, Optiver offered a package of Euro 1.57 lakh (Rs 1.38 crore approximately) per annum.

On day two in slot 2.1, a total of 16 companies made 64 plus job offers in various sectors. Here, the prominent international offers were made by Sysmex Corporation (Japan). In domestic sector jobs, highest numbers of offers were made by Oracle, American express & Bajaj Auto.

IIT Roorkee – there were 395 offers including pre-placement offers. The first day the highest domestic compensation (CTC) stood at Rs 80 lakh compared to Rs 60 lakh in the year-ago period. There were 75 companies which included American Express, Applied Materials, Cisco Systems India, Dream11, Jaguar Land Rover India, JioSaavn Media, JP Morgan, Nvidia Graphics, Paypal, Razorpay Software, Samsung Semiconductor India Research Center Bengaluru and Wells Fargo International Solutions among others.
IIT Kanpur – as many as 226 offers on Day 1 itself with the highest domestic package of Rs. 82 lakh from Graviton Trading which picked three students. QuantBox also offered a package of 80 lakh while Cohesity also made an international offer. Many offers to the tune of 60 lakhs from domestic companies were also made. IIT Guwahati also recorded as many as 133 PPOs and 69 offers so far and is hopeful of better statistics as compared to last year in 2020.
IIT Delhi : 300 placement offers were made including pre-placement offers on the first day. Deferred placements facility is also available to students who wish to set up a start-up post their graduation. Students availing this option can avail placement services once for up to two years at IIT Delhi.
IIT Kharagpur : 30 Companies Offered 130 Jobs On Day One with 276 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) out of 425 eight-weeks internship opportunities with the beginning of placement sessions for the academic session 2020-21. Recruiters such as Barclay, Goldman Sachs, Honeywell, Microsoft, MasterCard, Dr. Reddy, Tata Steel have offered more than 10 PPOs each.In addition to the domestic firms, International firms- TSMC, Sony-Japan and Cohesity US offered jobs as well.
