Director Dr Goutam Sutradhar congratulated the graduates, commending their achievements and highlighting their success in placements and inter-NIT competitions. He shared his vision document for NIT Jamshedpur, emphasizing the need for systemic changes to improve the institute’s ranking. It has also been known that the vision document proposes the creation of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to foster an Industry – Academia Governance Interface, which is possible with NIT Jamshedpur because of the Institute’s strategic location in the industrial belt of Adityapur.
As understood vision document supported by Dr Sutradhar also includes activities such as faculty and staff recruitment to maintain student faculty ratio, full financial resources utilisation, faculty with PhD degree, quantity and quality of publications by faculty and research scholars, increase of PhD student intake, one-to-one learning development for better graduate outcome, starting a Multi-disciplinary research centre in the emerging areas like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, big data analytics, IOT, etc., conducting mega placement drives, special coaching classes to the weaker/non-performer students, supporting economically, socially and physically challenged students, adopting corporate social responsibility with the support of academic peers and employers, providing skill development training to the youth from the nearby villages.
The 13th convocation of NIT Jamshedpur can be marked as a successful event to celebrate achievements, acknowledge distinguished guests, and outline a vision for the institute’s future growth.
