SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), a Deemed-to-be University based in Mumbai, appointed Prof. Sougata Ray as its new Vice Chancellor. He succeeded Dr. Ramesh Bhat, who completed his tenure as the Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Ray officially took charge of the university, bringing with him over 35 years of multifaceted experience spanning higher education, strategic management, corporate governance, innovation, and family business leadership.

Prior to assuming his role as Vice Chancellor at NMIMS, Prof. Sougata Ray served at the Indian School of Business (ISB) as the Thomas Schmidheiny Chaired Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship Practice and Executive Director of the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise.

IIM Calcutta : Over 2 Decades, he served in multiple senior leadership capacities, including Professor of Strategic Management, Dean, and Member of the Board of Governors.
IIM Indore : Was the founding Chairman of the PGP, MDP, and Industry Linkage Committees, helping lay the groundwork for the institute’s early academic structure.
Infosys Technologies: Led the corporate Innovation Lab as General Manager, bridging cutting-edge technology research with enterprise strategy.
Corporate Governance & Advisory: Served on the governing and advisory boards of several listed and unlisted companies, social enterprises, and start-ups, advising CXOs and government agencies on strategy, digital transformation, and governance.
