About MAHE: The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), established in 1953 by Shri T M A Pai, is a private deemed university in Karnataka, India. It started with India’s first private medical school, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), and expanded in 1957 with the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT). Initially, degrees were awarded by Karnataka University, then by the University of Mysore and Mangalore University.
