At a time when all engineering and B.Tech entrance exams are either canceled or postponed amidst the upsurge in COVID cases across the country, the VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) 2021 has been preponed.
The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has issued a revised schedule for the VIT Engineering Entrance Exam or VITEEE 2021.
The entrance exam will be held now on May 28, 29 & 31, instead of June.
Most of the engineering entrance tests have been either canceled or postponed. The next phase of the Joint Entrance Exam – Main (JEE Main), has also been postponed. Earlier the Class 12 board exams too were deferred.
We spoke to Dr. G. Kalaichelvan, Director UG Admission at VIT Vellore on this development.
According to Dr. Kalaichelvan, management of VIT has been very sensitive towards the anxiety and stress level of the students of 12th standards in the current crisis situation. Cancellation and postponement of exams brings in alot of uncertainty and students have to start preparation all over again. Large number of students aspiring for their engineering courses have already filled the VITEEE applications online for admissions in B.Tech offered by VIT, hence the decision was taken to reschedule the dates from end of June to end of May.
Last Date to Apply is May 20th 2021. Exam will be online remote-proctored mode.
VITEEE 2021 will be conducted in an online remote-proctored mode as part of which the candidates will be appearing for the papers from their personal devices (laptop/desktop) from the safe zones of their homes while they will be supervised by an examiner using a web camera.
The decision has been taken to keep students safe amid the coronavirus outbreak.
VITEEE 2021 is being conducted for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses offered by both campuses, VIT Vellore and VIT Chennai. The online application process is currently underway and candidates can apply till May 20.

Fees at VIT for B.Tech – Tuition fees for B.Tech ranges from INR 1,73,000 & INR 1,98,000.00 per annum depending upon courses. The low fees compared to most private universities and decent placement track, offer higher returns to students.
VIT Vellore placements 2021 – Despite a slow economy, Vellore Institute of Technology declared the placement report for the B. Tech batch 2021 on time. VIT followed a centralised placement process and students from all the four campuses of VIT, Vellore, Chennai, Amaravathi (AP) and Bhopal (MP) participated in all the campus recruitment processes where the number of Placements and Internship offers were 8840, 5211 Students placed of which 1055 Super Dream Offers and 2190 Dream offers rolled by close to 650 companies so far.
Highest CTC offered was by Microsoft – INR 44 lac per annum.
This year VIT has shared the slot for the dream companies including Microsoft, Amazon, Paypal, D.E.Shaw India Pvt. Ltd and Morgan Stanley among others.
- While 10 companies offered more than INR 25 Lac per annum, 283 students were placed with average salary above INR 5.5 lac per annum.
- More than 100 offers were rolled out for B.Tech students of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), with a salary of INR 10 lac per annum who would be graduating in 2021.
- Top recruiters : 100+ offers from Nokia Intel, 43 offers by Societe Generale,15 offers by Amazon, 10 offers by Paypal, 7 offers by Microsoft, 5 offers by D E Shaw among others.
