In March 2021, the Xavier University, Odisha (Amendment) Bill 2021 was passed in the State Assembly renaming the Xavier University as ‘XIM University’. This Bill has now received the consent of the Governor and has been published as a Gazette notification. With this, the Xavier University Bhubaneshwar has been renamed as XIM University.

The university authorities said they are deeply thankful to the Governor, the Chief Minister, the MLAs and the people of Odisha along with all stakeholders for this.
This renaming also helps in integrating both campuses of the university into a single legal entity with a shared structure, process, and procedure for better governance and administration of the university.
