As per reports the 20 leading business schools of country are done with the Summer Internship Programmes (SIP) for the current batch and released the SIP reports (till 31st of March) despite the travel restrictions much before the lock down was announced.
According to many companies it would not be possible to on-board interns anytime soon due to obvious reasons arising out of the current situation. Many in academia too think the remote work or virtual SIPs do not serve the very objective of internships where students learn in a real professional atmosphere.
While the Covid-19 pandemic is forcing all of us around the world to think and work differently it may be soon more of a common thing where virtual workplace is considered real.
Incidentally, directive released by AICTE stated that no institute should allow SIPs which requires travel or go to work place. SIPs which let students to either work from home or campus can be considered by institutes.
