IMT Ghaziabad marked its Foundation Day on September 15, 2025, with a series of commemorative events that reflected the institute’s legacy, academic excellence, and commitment to nurturing future leaders. The highlight of the celebration was the 15th Shri Mahendra Nath Memorial Lecture, delivered by Mr. Rajesh Uppal, Principal Consultant at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and Director at Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Uppal’s keynote address focused on the evolving landscape of mobility, leadership, and innovation. Drawing from his extensive industry experience, he emphasized the importance of adaptability, hybrid technologies, and collaborative risk management in shaping sustainable business success.

The event also featured the annual scholarship distribution ceremony, recognizing academic merit and student potential across programs.

Distinguished attendees included: Mr. Kamal Nath, Chief Mentor, IMT Group; Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay, Director, IMT Ghaziabad; Prof. Barnali Chaklader, Dean Academics; Prof. Poonam Garg, Prof. Ranjit Chakraborty, Mr. Rahul Kumar among others.

A special moment of the day was the conferral of the Shri Sharat Kumar Memorial Award for Best Teaching Professor 2025 to Prof. Manas Paul, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to pedagogy and student engagement.

In his address, Mr. Kamal Nath paid heartfelt tribute to the institute’s founding vision and reaffirmed that IMT Ghaziabad’s true strength lies in its faculty. He reflected on the transformative power of student-faculty interactions, describing them as mutual learning experiences that shape both minds and character. Urging students to remain curious and optimistic, he reminded them that youthfulness is not defined by age, but by attitude.

While paying tribute to Mr. Sharad Kumar, Chief Mentor of IMT Ghaziabad, Mr. Kamal Nath, humbly acknowledged that the true architect of IMT was not himself but Mr. Sharad Kumar, whose vision and commitment laid its very foundations and upheld its uncompromising standards of excellence. He further emphasized that the real strength of any institution does not lie in its grand infrastructure, but in the wisdom, dedication, and quality of its faculty—because it is they who ultimately define the institution’s legacy.

Talking about the advent of AI, Mr Kamal Nath said that a new dimension has opened in the realm of learning. Artificial intelligence compels us to reimagine the very process of learning, making it more adaptive, personalized, and impactful than ever before. “I am confident that IMT will be at the forefront of embracing this change,” he said.

On this occasion, Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay, Director of IMT Ghaziabad, said “This award is a tribute to IMT’s commitment to teaching excellence – through generation of new ideas, embracing a different thought process and innovation in pedagogy. This orientation to adopt and adapt new ideas become particularly relevant today, as we witness an acceleration in the pace of change across technology, geo-politics and environment. IMT Ghaziabad needs to leverage digital advancements, modernize the curricula, expand global reach and continue to strengthen the industry connections to bring in sustainable business practices. This award I am certain will inspire faculty members to recommit themselves towards learner success – by facilitating industry-relevance, offering mentorship, and sharing valuable industry insights with the students.”

Reflecting on Maruti’s transformative journey, Mr. Uppal introduced the LEADING framework—an acronym that encapsulates the pillars of Leadership, Employee Engagement, Agility, Discreet focus on cost and quality, Innovation, Needs of the customer, and Growth through partnership. He emphasized that adaptability and hybrid mobility are no longer optional, but essential in today’s dynamic landscape. Through compelling insights on collaborative risk management, he guided students to recognize that sustained success demands not just innovation and agility, but disciplined execution and a deep understanding of evolving customer needs.

The Foundation Day reaffirmed IMT Ghaziabad’s commitment to academic excellence, industry relevance, and values-driven leadership.
