IIM Amritsar: Indian Institute of Management Amritsar successfully inaugurated the 8th Batch of their flagship MBA Program, 2nd Batch of the MBA Business Analytics (MBA BA) Program, 2nd Batch of MBA Human Resources Program MBA HRM) , and the 3rd Batch of PhD Program on the 11th of July 2022, at Hotel Hyatt Regency Amritsar. The function was embellished with the presence of Shri Satya Narayanan R, Founder and Chairman, CL Educate Ltd., who also was the chief guest for the event.

The dais was graced with the presence of Dr. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director, IIM Amritsar, Dr. Mahima Gupta, Dean, Academics, Dr. Pavneet Singh, Chairperson, Admissions, and Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Chairperson, MBA, apart from the chief guest. The function started off with the auspicious lighting of lamp and the Hon. Director felicitating the chief guest.
IIM Amritsar inaugurated the seventh batch of MBA & MBA HR, Analytics
In his address, Dr. Pavneet Singh, Chairperson Admissions expressed his immense pleasure in addressing the new batch, and said that the journey for the students have only just begun. Taking pride in being ranked 5th among IIMs in terms of the number of applications received, he urged the students to collaborate, compete, and interact with like minded people, and said that it is how one spends their couple of years at IIM Amritsar which defines their journey. He also formally handed the batch over to the MBA Chairperson.
212 Students Awarded MBA Degrees in 6th Convocation of IIM Amritsar
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Chairperson, MBA, said that IIM Amritsar took in 288 students in the MBA-08, MBABA02 and MBAHR02 batches combined, and 3 new PhD students. He briefed the batch about the importance of diversity and inclusion, and asked the students to actively take part in various club-committee activities, as it increases one’s teamwork and interaction skills. He ended his address by stating that the more one learns, the more confident they become, and urged the batch to keep learning constantly.
IIM Amritsar Conducts MDP for Senior Officials of SJVN
Dr. Mahima Gupta, Dean, Academics, briefed the gathering about the history of IIM Amritsar by talking about the inception of the MBA Program in 2015, the BA and HR programs in 2021, EMBA program, PhD program, Post-Doctoral Fellowship program, and the various certification and customized programs. Citing Gautama Buddha, she said “You yourself must strive; The Buddhas only point the way” alluding to the effort one must take in a B-School with premium faculty like IIM Amritsar. She concluded her address by wishing the students the very best.
Dr. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director IIM Amritsar commenced his address in his unique light-hearted manner, and reminisced about the 3 years of him being the director of the institute. He congratulated the students for making it to the top brass of the country amidst the stress, competition, etc., and urged the students not to disappoint any of the stakeholders. Talking about the inception of his tenure, he said that it was a total of 250 students and a permanent faculty size of 10-11, and now the numbers have come up to more than 650 and 34 permanent faculty members. The next big question according to him was where IIM Amritsar will grow from this point of immense growth. He concluded his address by giving the students 3 valuable lessons; do not fall victim to greed, there’s no substitute for hard-work, and always think and be concerned about the underprivileged.
IIM Amritsar inaugurated its first EMBA program to address learning needs of executives working from home
Shri Satya Narayanan, in his inaugural address, urged the students to bring in passion by asking them to “put the place on fire”. He started off by taking a quick survey on the batch diversity; work experience, geographical diversity, and gender diversity. He emphasized on the importance of making one’s parents proud, and told the students to think about “what can we give back” instead of “will I make it”. He shared some pointers to succeed in life and started off by asking the students not to fall into a trap of entitlement, and always think of life as an endeavor. He also advised them to not ‘chase their biggest bidder’ and follow a greater goal, citing anecdotal example. He asked the students to put themselves in the shoes of the faculty members taking interviews and ask themselves ‘What will you select Yourself for’. He concluded by saying that one should always have the right attitude and train themselves constantly to stay relevant.
The 2nd batch of the Executive EMBA was inaugurated at IIM Amritsar campus
Mr. Manoj Kumar from PGP-02 Batch, Ms. Akshaya Srivastava from MBA-07 Batch, and Mr. Shakti Singh of the MBA-08 batch addressed the gathering, sharing their experiences and expectations, as the past, present, and future of IIM Amritsar. Ms. RVSS Aparna from the MBA-08 batch proposed the vote of thanks. The event ended on a high note with the national anthem echoing through the hall.
