Banaras Hindu University the creative and innovative University situated in the holy city of Varanasi was founded by the great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, in 1916 along with close co-operation of Dr Annie Besant. BHU is celebrated for its academic heritage, and revered for blending traditional knowledge systems with modern education. This year, a total of 7602 students received undergraduate degrees, while 6002 students were presented postgraduate degrees.
The Banaras Hindu University (BHU)conferred 14,680 degrees at its 103rd convocation. This time, a total of 539 medals were presented to students across institutes and faculties which included 27 medals (Chancellor Medals, Late Maharaja Vibhuti Narayan Singh Gold Medals, and BHU medals) to 23 students.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, was the chief guest of the convocation programme. In his speech Principal scientific advisor to the Government of India Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood said the motto of all universities should be to promote innovation in teaching, learning and research, and cross-pollinate new ideas, technologies and world views. He added National Education Policy 2020 was a step towards creating an ignited workforce that is responsive to regional, national and global needs. The main ceremony was presided over by chancellor Justice Giridhar Malaviya. The graduates were sworn the pledges by the chancellor. Registrar Prof. Arun Kumar Singh announced the names of the students who were presented the medals.
