But as the official statement released by the Placement Office of IIT Bombay within days rectified the number of Rs 1 cr plus Package offered is actually 22 nos not 85 which was shared earlier. The Placement Office of IIT Bombay strongly regrets this unintended mistake , which was termed as a “ Technical error”.

In fact, this “ Technical Error” has prompted the IITs – the forum of prestigious institution of our country to come to a consensus the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are considering of not disclosing the highest annual packages in their placement reports, focussing on mean and median salary figures instead.
This consensus emerged during a recent meeting of the All IITs Placement Committee (AIPC), where discussions included the IIT-Bombay placement report from last week which claimed over 85 offers surpassing an annual package of Rs 1 crore. In a corrigendum issued on Wednesday, IIT-Bombay, while citing a “technical error”, revised the number of Rs 1 crore-plus offers in the first phase of placement to 22.
Last week , IIT-Bombay had announced that the first phase of placements, which concluded on December 20 last year, saw a total of 1,340 offers. It said there were 85 offers of annual salary packages surpassing Rs 1 crore, marking a significant increase from the 25 such offers made last year. The average annual salary package also increased from Rs 21.82 lakh per annum (2022 -2025) to Rs 24.02 lakh per annum (Unconfirmed).
