Usually many management institutes like IMI Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad among others re-opens applications after CAT results are out. All the DMS IITs will open the application windows after CAT Result and shall close on Jan 31, 2022.
The declining CAT cutoff may also compel the IIMs, specially the Baby IIMs, to select and shortlist students with lower CAT scores this year. Anything above 85+ percentile are likely to be considered and get calls for the interview from many top B Schools including IIMs.
Compared to the past trend, this year there were fewer questions which, according to some students, made the papers more difficult. According to a poll done by us to understand how was the CAT 2021 paper, CAT takers responded :
Below Expectation : 33% and Lagg gayee (Pathetic and hopeless) : 31%
This essentially indicated that the exam was not easy this year, which in turn makes us believe that the cut-offs are bound to go down this year. The lengthy passages in the VARC / LRDI sections were pretty time-consuming which led to fewer attempts by the aspirants.
